Cathy Lanzalaco joined Inspire Careers in February 2017, after many years serving as a senior level human resources business partner in the warehouse, healthcare and grocery industries. As an executive career coach, professional resume writer, and interview coach, Cathy challenges herself and others to excel. She is respected as a creative problem-solver with the drive to help individuals reach their career goals.

 Early Career

Cathy began her career as a Registered Nurse, Assistant Nurse Manager, and Discharge Planning Nurse at Sisters of Charity Hospital in Buffalo, NY, and later as a Certified Case Manager with Genex Services Inc. In 1997, she joined Tops Markets (Ahold) as a Medical Management Nurse, was promoted to manage employee wellness programs, disability administration, and medical services, and later assumed responsibility as Manager of Compensation, Benefits & HRIS.

Advancement in the Field of Human Resources

In 2004, Cathy joined American Sales Company (Ahold) as Manager of Compensation, Benefits and HRIS. After just three years, she was promoted to Senior Human Resources Business Partner, serving as the primary contact for Human Resources at the Lancaster Distribution Center. During this time, she worked closely with the International Institute of Buffalo to create a Language and Cultural Competency Enhancement Program for the leadership team to provide successful recruitment, onboarding, and retention strategies for Buffalo’s growing immigrant and refugee population. Cathy is passionate about creating best practices for employee engagement and increasing employee satisfaction, retention, and development.

In 2016, Cathy provided HR leadership to American Sales Company in the closing of the distribution facility. She and her team helped 600 people to successfully transition, with dignity, into new job opportunities across the Buffalo and surrounding business community.

Most recently, Cathy was Director of Human Resources at Allwel, a provider of home health care services in western New York, where she introduced the concept of an employee-centric organizational culture, challenging the status quo and implementing alternative methods to enhance the employee experience. Cathy contributed to the reorganization of staffing and systems that better aligned with upcoming industry changes and the company’s newly developed strategic goals.

As a Strategic Human Resources Business Partner, Cathy has been consistently recognized as an effective change agent, as well as for her excellence in employee engagement, diversity and inclusion, and corporate wellness.

Credentials

Cathy holds an MBA and BS in Business Management with a concentration in HR Management from the State University of New York. She is licensed and certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), a Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP), Certified Corporate Wellness Specialist (CCWS), and Registered Nurse. She is an active member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), Buffalo Niagara Human Resource Association (BNHRA), and HR People & Strategy (HRPS). She is also a member of the Professional Association of Resume Writers & Career Coaches (PARWCC) and is currently completing her certification as a Certified Professional Career Coach (CPCC).
